Delayed but not denied
I waited patiently for the
Lord and He inclined to me and heard my cry ... Psalm 40:1
For all promises of God in Him (Jesus Christ) are "Yes" and ... "Amen" ... 1
Corinthians 1:20
Wow, this is quite a Truth in the life of a person who desires to walk in the way of God.
When a
potter makes a beautiful work of art, he first gets the clay in the correct
proportion, sets his wheel in place and he takes a good amount of time to
bring out the shape of a beautiful pot, from the clay which he had mixed. When a
child is born, it is fed with liquid food for a good many months before being
fed solid food. There are
certain things which need to happen in our lives in a set time.
The bible says that for everything under the sun, there is a time and place to
happen.
In the Old Testament of the bible, there was a guy named Abraham to whom God had
promised that He would make him a great nation. Maybe it seemed like God was
promising too much, more than what Abraham desired, by saying that He would make
Abraham's generation as numerous as the dust of the earth (meaning, so
numerous). But nothing moved much in Abraham's life for twenty five years. Yes,
the blessing which God
promised to Abraham was delayed but not denied.
God did give Abraham a son named Isaac and his generation extended over all the
earth.
To another guy named Joseph, God promised that He will make him ruler over everything, including his brothers and parents and make his name great. But something contradictory happened in Joseph's life. Instead of being raised up, he was thrown below the ground level into a pit by his brothers. Again, even in Joseph's life, the blessing promised to him by God was delayed but not denied. Sooner, Joseph did become great to the extent that his own brothers, who tortured him, fell at his feet and submitted to him.
Sometimes we pray to God for some miracle to be done in our lives. Maybe we have prayed for months or years together, but nothing seemed to budge. Maybe God had promised you that He will do the miracle that you are expecting Him to do in your life ... but it's been months or years since He promised, and you have seen no sign of miracle thus far. My friend, if you are in such a situation right now, hang on, don't give up !!! If that thing which you are praying for is truly according to God's will, and if God had promised you that He would do that miracle for you, jus trust Him for He will do it for you for sure, as how He promised.
But there's something we need to understand. When God delays some things in our lives, we need to remember that there is always a purpose behind it, which you and I may not understand right now. During such times, the biggest problem is To Wait. My friend, if you are in such a time of waiting, jus wait IN FAITH. The bible says to trust in the Lord with all our heart. Don't let doubt creep in, 'cos doubting will crumble the wall of hope within you. When in doubt, pray steadfast ... don't give up on prayer, because God has promised that when you call on Him, even if you are calling in the night time when the whole world is asleep to your call, HE WILL HEAR YOU and ANSWER YOU. When the time is right, God will do the miracle for you.
When we wait patiently for the Lord, He will incline to us and hear our cry.
My friend, even this day, I would like to encourage you with this truth that when God has his hand on your life, when you have given your life into His tender care and control, jus remember that the promises He has given to you, though delayed, will never be denied.
Have a blessed day!!!
Your friend,
Eshcol
