Treasure

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also - Matthew 6:21

Most of us can relate to what it means to treasure something very dearly. At every stage of our lives there's something or the other which we treasure. Jesus gave a real classic explanation of what it means "To Treasure something". As mentioned in the above verse in Matthew chapter 6 verse 21 Jesus says, "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also". Isn't that right?

When we were kids there's toys which we treasured. I've seen little kids treasuring teddy bear dolls and even when they go to bed they have their teddy bear close to them. As we grew up, maybe we treasured the bicycle which dad presented for birthday. When we treasure these things, most of the time our mind is on them. This is the reason why God gave that real kool explanation for the word "Treasure".

Let me ask you this, my friend. Who or what is on your mind today? What is the treasure you have your mind on? Do you have something or someone you treasure so much that you think about that thing or person too often? Do those things or people you love and think of so much really love you back the same way?

At this point I would like to remind you of an awesome truth. The truth is, there's someone who treasures you so much. There's Someone who has His mind on you every moment of your life. Wherever you go and whatever you do, there is someone who watches over you. He is a friend who sticks closer than your own brother or sister. He is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But the question is, "Do we have Him on our mind, or is something/someone else taking His place in our lives?"

In the bible, there is an illustration which Jesus gave about how mindful He is of His children. There was once a shepherd who had hundred sheep. As he was grazing the sheep, by end of the day he found one of them missing. There were only ninety nine with him. The shepherd loved even that one missing sheep so much that he left the ninety nine to look for the one missing and he found it in the bushes. He carried that lost sheep and came back with great joy and put it back with the remaining ninety nine.

When can you and I be really sure if He treasures us? In the book of Exodus chapter 19 verse 5, God said that If we obey His voice and keep His covenant, then we shall be a peculiar treasure to Him. In another place in the bible He mentions that We are the apple of His eyes.

My friend, let me ask you again ... Who or what is on your mind today? If we treasure the things of this world, we may get hurt sometimes. Maybe it's time for you to revisit what you've been treasuring till date. Maybe it's time for you to put your mind on Him who has His mind on you.

You and I are so precious to God that He even allowed His own Son Jesus Christ to take our place for the sins we have committed, so that we can escape the wages of our sins which is death. Do we have this God on our mind or is something or someone else taking His place on our mind?

May God help you to analyze your life and revisit the thing you treasure the most in your life.

Have a blessed day!!!

Your friend,
Eshcol
