Your God is too small !!!

"Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world."
1 John 4:4

Maybe the title for this message does not sound right to you! Or maybe now you are curious to read on to see why such a title!

Right from the beginning of creation, if there's one misconception that has invaded the human mind, that is the misconception about God. When the evil one tempted Eve in the garden of Eden, her limited mind thought that if she ate the forbidden fruit, she can become like God. That's because she had her own limited idea about the "power and magnificence of God" and tried to figure out this unlimited God with her limited mind. Yes,
she messed up God's plan.

When God promised Abraham, when he was 99 years of age, that He would give him a son within a year, his wife Sarah laughed with doubt, because her human mind could not comprehend that the omnipotent God "can" do what He is saying.
She doubted God's word.

When God told Jonah to go to Nineveh to preach the Word, he thought that he knows much better than God and chose to go to Joppa instead to board a ship to Tarshish. But since he rebelled against God and His plan for him, he ended up having some deep-sea diving class and a sweet 3-day vacation in a whale's smelly belly until he regretted for boxing in his God.

If we look back at our lives, I'm sure many of us can identify with some of these people mentioned above. Yes, many a time we simply cannot understand the ways of God in our lives. When God leads us through this life, depending on His ways, sometimes we have to move on quickly, sometimes we have to slow down and sometimes we have to just stand still. But we can be sure that at every moment, His guiding presence sees us thru.

Many a time we tend to put God in a box and try to match His greatness with the problems we are facing. We tend to forget the fact that
it is God who allows some mountains in our lives so that He can shape us, refine us to be the kind of person He wants us to be. When God seems too small to our eyes, when compared to our problems, I believe it is high time for us to ask God to open our eyes to see the REAL HIM. As Pastor Joel Osteen mentioned, it is at these times "We need to stop talking to God about how big our mountain is and start talking to the mountain about how big our God is!"

Here comes the opportunity for us to exercise our FAITH. The bible says that
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Since we cannot comprehend or fathom God's greatness, we simply have to be still and acknowledge that God is in control and declare that by Faith everyday of our lives till the day He moves those mountains from our way. God is not limited by situations and circumstances, but if there's one thing that can limit God from working in our lives, that's "our lack of Faith", because the Bible says that "without faith it is impossible to please God".

Yes, my friend, I hope you can now understand why such a title for this message. Your God is just as big as how you think He is. That simply implies that we just cannot figure out God with our human mind and arrive at a conclusion of the kind of solution God can or cannot give to our problems and His time to do so.

Even at this moment, may I encourage you to let God work in His own way. Submit to His timing in your life for His divine plan for your life to be fulfilled in His own sweet and perfect time.

Have a blessed month ahead !!!

Your friend,
Eshcol
